1. That stupid diet lasted for 36 hours. Carbohydrates are NOT meant to be eliminated. I felt awful, but I did lose half a pound (and about $200). I ditched the diet after searching the web for other people's posts about their experiences, but instead finding a critique from the Tufts school of nutrition.
2. Removed the windows in the dining room and installed french doors. John, the great neighbor and remodeller, did the install. Before that, I took two months to varnish the thing (this is WAY TOO MUCH WORK). I contributed to John's install efforts by following him around asking irritating questions and cleaning things up before he was done with them. And, of course, the deck isn't done yet. Wouldn't want that to happen.

I like the new deck but have one piece of advice -- you should never EVER in the eastern rainy climes of anywhere install something called "california style" decking, where the deck is flush up to the bottom of the door--the way you have here.
the rain will fall and hit the deck and splash up against your doors, and the wall.
we bought a house 2 years ago and had to replace the doors because the were rotten from years of rain...
but you'll probably sell the house before it becomes a problem, and the next homeowners will have to deal with it. heh.
it looks nice. i hope you enjoy the deck for many years, and do hope you have a great vacation. let's chat when you get back.
as for the comment you left for me, i am not surprised my son is fart obsessed these days. no, not at all. i wondered "how did he GET like this???" and now i know. thanks for the reminder.

Still waiting for an update....every day I check, with my hopes high, my dreams of new adventures with Xtine & Tails, taking me new places, seeing new things (and sometimes even seeing old things in a new way!), but alas, no "new" news here. But I do have news for you! Seems one of my garage door windows actually came from Widmer Brewing Company! No kiddin'--it's labeled and everything!!
